The Fairdale Fire Department is a career/volunteer organization located 15 minutes from Louisville in southern Jefferson County, Kentucky. We have been in operation since 1952 and are the main fire protection service for Fairdale, KY. Our primary response area is about 33 square miles with a population of over 25,000 residents. Most of the service area is residential with commercial corridors along the National Turnpike and New Cut Road. A larger industrial area, the Space Center is located along our eastern district boundary. Also in our coverage area is a large CSX rail terminal and about 6 miles of the Gene Snyder freeway crossing from east to west. Our Station 1 sits at the base of the foothills of the 6500+ acre Jefferson Memorial Forest which spreads across our southern boundary. Station 2 located in the northwest area of our district on Third Street provides coverage to the numerous neighborhoods of our community.
